An 18-month-old girl has died in a tragic accident after being accidentally run over by her father at a campsite in the Moselle region of France.
The incident occurred in the village of Grostenquin near the Luxembourg and German borders, shortly after a German family arrived at the holiday site for their stay.
According to local reports, the family—visitors from the Stuttgart area—had just checked into the campsite when the accident happened. The toddler is believed to have moved out of sight of her parents as her father, aged 45, was manoeuvring the vehicle to reach their allocated pitch.
During the movement of the car, the child was struck and fatally injured. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, but despite efforts to save her life, she could not be revived.
French media reported that the father underwent alcohol and drug testing following the incident, with both results returning negative.
Authorities responded with a significant emergency presence, while investigations into the exact circumstances of the tragedy are ongoing.
The incident has left the campsite community and the family devastated, as officials continue to review how the accident unfolded.
